Prescribing Information

Dosage:
To be determined by the health care professional according to patients’ needs. Recommendation for supplementary 2 bottles (600 kcal)/day or complete nutrition </= 5 bottles (1500 kcal)/day.

– High in protein (27 energy %) to compensate for an increased protein turnover and counteract loss of muscle mass.
– High in fat (40 energy %), low in carbohydrates (31 energy %) adapted to the specific metabolic changes in cancer patients.
– High in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) from fish oil to counteract weight and muscle loss and support immune function.

Important Notes:
To be used under medical supervision. Suitable as sole source of nutrition. If used for complete nutrition, consider high fish oil and protein levels. Not suitable for infants < 1 year. Use with caution in children < 6 years. Not suitable for patients with galactosaemia. Ensure adequate fluid intake.

Instructions for Use:
Store at room temperature. Opened bottles may be stored in a refrigerator up to 24 hours. Shake well before use. Drink slowly! Best served chilled.

Contraindications:
Not suitable where enteral nutrition is not permitted such as in acute gastrointestinal bleeding, ileus and shock. Use with caution in severe organ failure with impaired metabolism and severe forms of malassimilation. Not suitable for patients with congenital inability to metabolise nutients contained in Supportan Drink.
