  • For back pain. Slowly roll your back down on the mat. If you have pain on the lower back, put up a towel/pillow under the mat to create a curve. Lay down for 20 minutes
  • For neck pain. Lay down on a flat surface and put a pillow behind your neck. Use for 20 to 40 minutes.
  • For anxiety and stress. Lay down on the mat, while putting it on bed or couch so it will become more comfortable. Close your eyes and relax. Listen to calming music or meditation for best results
  • For sleep. Use it during the afternoon or evening to improve sleep. Do it for 20 minutes. The best result is to use it before your bedtime. Make sure to remove the mat before you sleep.
  • For feet and reflexology. Stand on the mat on both foot or one foot to put pressure. Use it for 10 minutes.

 

The recommended time for using the acupressure mat is 15-20 minutes per session. For a beginner, start at 10 minutes.

For maximum benefits, allow your skin to direct contact with the mat. For a beginner, wear thin cloths first. You can wear a t-shirt, or lay a towel or sheet over the mat.

When you already become used to it, increase the time for each session by 5 minutes, until one session become 40 minutes.

You can use acupuncture mat on a couch, chair while sitting. Or simply put it on your bed, so you can use it laying down. If you wanted to have reflexology, you can put your foot and stand on it.

Some people also use it as a meditation mat while doing yoga.

What you have to remember is to use it gently, place it on a flat surface.  You can add a pillow to cushion your head.

The mat has a thousand pinpoints that are very sharp and could puncture your skin. So don’t jump on it and make sure your body weight is evenly distributed.

 

How To Clean Acupuncture Mat

To clean it, remove the foam mat and wash the cloth and acupressure buttons using a soft brush. Don’t use a washing machine or dryer to prevent damaging the acupoints. After that store it in a dry place.

 

Precaution

Don’t use it if you have wounds or sores on your skin.

Pregnant women and children under 6 years old also not recommended to use it.

If you have a skin disorder, a blood disorder, using anticoagulants, or suffer epilepsy, it is better to consult with your doctor first before using it.

    Very informative article. I personally find that taking a walk around the reflexology path near my home does help to circulate blood better. I feel more energetic after using it. A portable mat like this definitely gives the same or better effect.
