Nutren regulate GI

Nutren Diabetes Review

Nutren Diabetes Review – Is it good for diabetes patients?

Nutren Diabetes is a vanilla flavoured, nutritionally-balanced drink that Nestle designed to help people with diabetes manage their blood sugar levels.  Nutren Diabetes can be used as a meal supplement or replacement to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels. It comes in Ready To Drink Packs or powder form. The RTD packs can be drank immediately from pack and the powder form is easy to prepare and can also supplement or replace breakfast or be used as a snack between meals instead of less healthy alternatives.

We will review Nutren Diabetes and see how it compares to the other alternate : Abbott Nutrient’s Glucerna Triple Care. We will check out the nutrient value and whether it helps with diabetes patients. And we will also survey if the tastes suits most consumers’ taste buds and also whether it is friendly on the wallet.

Firstly, caretakers should note that diabetes can lead to ups and downs in blood glucose and energy levels.

Glycaemic Index (GI) fluctuation

Glycaemic Index (GI) fluctuation

Acute fluctuations in blood glucose levels are associated with cardiovascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes. When blood glucose falls between meals, patients with diabetes may feel less energetic.

Glycaemic Index (GI) is a measure of the carbohydrate quality of a food. Feeling less energetic can lead to snacking, particularly on energy-dense, high GI foods.

Foods with a high GI can increase blood glucose fluctuations

NUTREN® Diabetes helps smooth out energy levels in the consumer.

Low GI foods would have beneficial effects on blood glucose control in short term and long term.

NUTREN® Diabetes has a low glycaemic index (GI=22) with unique complex carbohydrates, including tapioca dextrin that the body takes a longer time to digest and convert into energy.

In our surveys, we have found out that in tastes, there are more people who prefer the tastes of Nutren Diabetes to Glucerna Triple Care, but the difference is not very large. It tastes smoother. Some of our clients do feedback that it is slightly more costlier than the Nutren Diabetes. Also, perhaps due to the media advertisement of Glucerna Triple Care, there is a greater awareness of Glucerna Triple Care compared to Nutren Diabetes. Many people are still not aware of this brand.

We also like to highlight that there are 2 Nutren Diabete product available. The Nutren Diabetes powder is more affordable and can be mixed easily with water, the concentration of the drink depends on how many scoops you like to add to the drink as a snack between meals, or as a meal replacement itself.

Hai… May i know the difference between nutren diabetes (nestle)and glucerna triple action diabetes(abbott). Between these two which is most recommended?

      Hi Nabil,

Thanks for reaching out to us. The differences are mainly in the content. Nutrens do let the consumers know exactly what the Glycaemic index is, whereas for Abbott products they don’t.
There is no most recommended, as the only person who is qualified to give recommendations on such products will be your nutritionist or your personal doctor.

      Hope that helps!

      With Regards,
      Henry Hoe
